ISLAMABAD: Calling for an impartial inquiry against Rao Anwar, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday dispelled reports of PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari protecting and giving political patronage to the suspended police officer.

In a statement, the opposition leader said the reports are untrue.  “Rao Anwar should face the inquiry, if he is not guilty,” he said.

Extending condolences with the bereaved family of Naqeebullah, Shah urged authorities to ensure justice to the family.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar was heading the police raiding team, which claimed to kill three ‘terrorists’ including a youth from South Waziristan in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town.

Naseemullah better known as Naqeebullah Mehsud was a 27-year-old from South Waziristan, who was killed in an alleged police encounter in Karachi.

Naqeeb had migrated along his family from Waziristan to Karachi. The money he used to earn through laborious work in a mill were mostly spent on his hair style and clothes, told his relative Noor Mehsud.

The SSP Malir said he had sufficient evidence that the slain youth was a terrorist but family members, relatives and friends remembered him as a person who loved to take care of himself and wanted to become a model.
