LAHORE: Two people, a policeman among them, were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in the premises of a sessions court in Lahore on Wednesday.
According to the police, the victim policeman was taking an under-trial suspect out of a courtroom when the latter’s rivals opened fire, leaving them with fatal firearm wounds.
The accused died on the spot while the constable succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital.
The deceased were identified as police constable Asif and suspect Amjad Malik.
Following the incident of the firing, a heavy contingent of police personnel arrived at the crime scene and cordoned it off.
The law enforcers have begun a search operation to arrest the assailants.
A number of lawyers gathered on the premises of the court to protest against security lapse, demanding stringent security measures for the court.
