PESHAWAR: Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq on Tuesday threatened to organise a long march to Islamabad if the federal government does not provide the due rights to the people of the tribal areas.
Addressing a protest gathering outside the Governor House, the JI chief said that the federal government has failed to give due rights to the people of the tribal areas. “We do not agree with the division of Pakhtun people. We are one and will continue to do so,” he said.
He warned that in case there is no progress on FATA reforms by Eid-ul-Azha, then they will march towards Islamabad along with the protesters and the youth and demand their rights.
“When these protestors will march towards Islamabad, then the ruler will not be safe in their homes.”
He said that that tribal people have rebelled against the old system and the draconian British-era Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) which stipulates collective punishment for FATA.
JI to defend Article 62 and 63
The JI chief also warned against any amendments to the Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution, which says that a leader should be Sadiq and Ameen (honest and trustworthy).
“If a leader is not honest and trustworthy then he should not be in parliament,” he said the clause should also be implemented on judges, bureaucrats, generals, and politicians.
“We will defend this clause of the Constitution and will gather people over it,” he warned
He expressed displeasure that the government has approved election reforms on Tuesday but failed to provide anything for the tribal people and allow them to take part in elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly.
“The government should have announced to allow the tribal people to take part in provincial elections, but they failed to do so,” he said.
PM Abbasi should not take dictates from Nawaz Sharif
He said that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi should realise that he is the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and not look toward Raiwind to take dictates from ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“I advise Shahid Khaqan Abbasi not to look toward the Raiwind Palace and take dictates from Nawaz Sharif. He has been disqualified and is now history, and instead taken the road of arrogance,”
“It was his arrogance which disqualified him. The Panama Papers is not a conspiracy, but rather imposed by Al-Mighty Allah.”
He said that now the ousted prime minister has called for to hold a dialogue among political parties to remove or amend these clauses from the Constitution.
However, he said that there should be a dialogue but only to eradicate corruption, and uphold the supremacy of the law and constitution rather than to save the corrupt status-quo of the country.
