A security guard, claiming that the animal was attacking him, reportedly shot the reptile five times at Karachi’s Zamzama. He fired three bullets into the mammal three times in the abdomen and twice on its legs.

Co-Founder and Director of Pakistan Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) Mahera Omar had stated that a person saw the mammal in grave condition and called for help on social media. She had requested Dr. Ali Ayaz to provide medical assistance to the wounded animal.
Dr. Ayaz arrived at the scene with his assistant and took the animal to his clinic in Gulshan area.
The pangolin was in a critical state and could not survive overnight.
Omar said that Sindh Wildlife Department the incident was being investigated and expressed hope that legal action will be taken against the culprits under the wildlife laws.
