KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar will unveil the Rs 27.17 billion tax-free budget of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) today.
The KMC has pitched total expenditure at Rs 27.16 billion while Rs 11.5 billion has been earmarked for development schemes.

Of the budget’s summary of revenue for the next fiscal year, the KMC is expecting Rs 6 billion from the provincial Annual Development Program, followed by Rs 1.1 billion from finance and accounts, Rs 650 million under dues against KPT, Rs 659 million from Transport and Communication Department.
The budget estimates also mentions Rs 1.7 billion under ‘Dues of KMC against the K-Electric.’
Under the summary of expenditure, the KMC has allocated Rs 5.7 billion under debt servicing, pension fund etc, followed by Rs 4.1 billion for Medical and Health Services, Rs 3.3 billion municipal services and Rs 3.19 billion engineering.
