According to the PMD, scorching weather is likely to prevail in Karachi on Saturday (today) with temperature expected to range between 37-39 °C with mostly clear skies. The hot spell will continue for the next two days.
More than sixty people were undergoing treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital as the intense heat had triggered heatstroke among the citizens. The Met department has stated that temperature of the city will likely remain warm till tomorrow however, the temperature will drop by evening.
Non Governmental Organisations have established stalls around various parts of the city where water bottles are being distributed among the citizens.
The doctors have advised several precautionary measures to general public, which include minimum exposure to the sun, maximum use of water and staying under shed during the day time.
However, heavy rains with thunderstorm are likely in some parts of the country including Gilgit-Baltistan and Hazara division whereas strong winds are expected across Azad Kashmir.
The weather department had earlier forecast a searing spell of hot weather in Karachi and adjoining areas on weekend.
