KARACHI: At least three children died after they accidentally fell into an open drain, ARY News reported Tuesday.
The incident occurred in city’s Nusrat Bhutto Colony where four children slipped into an open sewer line. Onlookers immediately arrived for help and a few of them tried to pull out the children.
Rescue teams were also called in to find the children, and they initially managed to retrieve two children in an unconscious condition, while the third was pulled out alive and breathing, but his condition was critical.

While on the way to hospital, the three kids breathed his last and passed away. It is learnt that rescue teams encountered hardships in finding the fourth child because they didn’t have the emergency lights.
In a similar incident of child deaths, two children had lost their lives as fire broke out at their residence in Jamshed town area of Karachi on March 22.
According to the police the fire broke out due to short circuit in the house. The bodies of the deceased were moved to the hospital.
According to the neighbours, the head of the family was abroad for the employment purpose.
In a separate incident of fire incident in March, 2018, at least four people, two children were burnt to death after a fire broke out in a house in a neighborhood of Lahore.
