KARACHI: In a surprising move, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) former deputy convener Kamran Tessori didn’t come to stage and chose to sit among party workers during the party rally in Liaquatabad’s Tanki ground on Saturday.
Tessori, who used to address crowd at every MQM rally since he joined the party, stayed among workers and cameramen from media houses had to actually look for him among the crowd listening to the MQM-P faction leaders’ speeches during the rally which brought the party’s PIB and Bahadurabad leaders on one stage.
The party’s former deputy convener also had to stay outside the MQM-P’s Bahadurabad office during a meeting between two faction leaders Khalid Siddiqui and Farooq Sattar after which they announced holding of this joint rally in Liaquatabad.
Tessori, a gold trader by profession, has time and again expressed his resolve to serve the party as a worker whether he gets a party position or a lawmaker’s status or not since his nomination for a Senate ticket divided MQM into PIB and Bahadarabad groups in February.
Kamran Tessori remained member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) in the past and joined MQM-P last year was elevated to the post of deputy convener by then party chief Farooq Sattar.
He also contested the PS-114 by-election for MQM-P against the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Saeed Ghani but lost.
