The case proceedings were conducted by Judge Raja Shahbaz. A petition was filed against the Geo group and its owner for running a program containing blasphemous content in its morning program, hosted by its anchor Shahista Wahidi.
The ATC had earlier issued notices to the defendants including Mir Shakeel, however they did not turn up. The court subsequently ordered confiscation of the property of the accused.
Mir Shakeel and other accused had filed application against the court order in a local court of Gilgit Baltistan, but it was rejected by the court.
