KARACHI: The Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies are set to elect the new leaders of the houses today.
The PPP, which won a third consecutive term in Sindh in the wake of last month’s general elections, has fielded Murad Ali Shah as its candidate for the slot of chief minister of Sindh.
Whereas, the combined opposition has nominated Grand Democratic Alliance’s Shahryar Mahar as its candidate for the slot.
The elections would be held by the method of division of the house.
Meanwhile, Mahmood Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will contest the election for leader of the house against Mian Nisar Gul of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
A day earlier, they both submitted their nomination papers with the secretary of the provincial assembly.
The assembly will meet at 11:00 am.
The PTI nominated Mr Khan, an MPA from Swat, as its candidate for the slot of chief executive of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after emerging as the single largest party in the province.
