ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry on Thursday removed the name of Pakistan Peoples Party leader Dr Asim Hussain from the Exit Control List for one month.
Dr Asim had submitted an application in the Supreme Court calling for his name to be struck from the list. Therefore, the interior ministry removed his name for one month.
Speaking to ARY News, Dr Asim said that the apex court had ordered the interior ministry to remove his name. He said he wanted to visited abroad not for any personal but rather health reasons.
He said it was the ill-intention of the interior ministry to remove this name for only one month, and strongly condemned the decision of the government. He said that these tactics were an attempt to pressurise him and his party.
SC had taken up the application filed by Dr Asim stating that he has the right to travel abroad for health reasons and his name should be removed from the ECL.
Earlier, the Sindh High Court had ordered to remove Dr Asim’s name from the ECL. He travelled to London for medical reasons and returned on October 6.
