LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar on Friday said that Kartarpur Corridor has nothing to do with the politics, ARY News reported.

“Kartarpur Corridor will be opened at any cost”, Chaudhry Sarwar said in his statement issued here from Lahore, today.

Terming  the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s initiative to open the corridor for the Sikh pilgrims, a historical step, the governor said it will help in developing relations, love and affection between both the countries.

He said opening Kartarpur corridor to visit Shrine of Baba Guru Nanak was the oldest demand of the Sikh pilgrims, which was accepted and honoured by PM Khan.

Chaudhry Sarwar also invited the Sikh yatris to visit Governor House Punjab upon their arrival in Lahore.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Kartarpur Corridor on Nov 9.

The officials of Pakistan and India in a historic event on Oct 24 signed an agreement for opening Kartarpur Corridor. Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director General South Asia and SAARC Dr. Muhammad Faisal and India’s Joint Secretary External Affairs SCL Das signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries at Kartarpur Zero Point.

In the agreement, Islamabad has kept a service fee of $20 for Sikh pilgrims visiting the Corridor from the Indian side, unchanged.

As many as 5,000 Sikh pilgrims can visit Kartarpur daily and Pakistan will consider the possibility of allowing more pilgrims on special occasions.
