Heatwave claims four lives in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Four unidentified bodies of elderly persons were found in different parts of the city here on Friday, ARY News reported.

Police shifted all the bodies to Edhi morgue where the its regional in-charge Mairaj Ahmed apprised media that two bodies were found from Hyderabad Railway Station while two others from Hussainabad and Civil Hospital respectively.

All deceased were reportedly homeless and aged over 65.

The Edhi official said that the unidentified persons have died due to heatstroke as heatwave continues with the mercury recorded at 45 degree Celsius in Hyderabad.

The bodies were handed over to Edhi Foundation for burial.

The scorching heat of current hot spell has also reportedly increased cases of dehydration in the city.

In 2015 spell of the heatwave in Karachi leave at least 1,000 people dead who were mostly reported to be elderly persons and homeless.
