Pakistan’s former test batsman Younis Khan has picked his All Time XI and has named some of the legendary cricket players as part of his ideal team.

In a video shared by Lord’s Cricket Ground’s Youtube page, Younis names Pakistan’s Hanif Mohammad and Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar as his openers. Younis said he selected them simply because they are “little masters.”

Next was South Africa’s Jacques Kallis, whom Younis calls “one of the greatest all-rounders” to have graced the game.

Younis Khan picked three West Indies greats to – Brian Lara, Sir Viv Richards and Sir Garfield Sobers to constitute a solid middle order.

From left to right: Sir Viv Richards, Sir Garfield Sobers, and Brian Charles Lara.

‘Prince’ Brian Lara is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, and holds several cricketing records, including the record for the highest individual score in a Test innings after scoring 400 not out against England in 2004.

Viv Richards and Garfield Sobers are regarded as among the greatest batsmen of all time. Both were voted as one of the five Cricketers of the Century by a 100-member panel of experts in 2000, along with Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Jack Hobbs and Shane Warne.

“These two would make a very big difference in the team,” said Younis.

Younis then named his wicket keeper and it was none other than Adam Gilchrist, the Aussie who roared like a lion both when keeping wickets or batting for his team.

This ideal team would be led by former Pakistan captain Imran Khan, whom Younis regards as his “all-time favourite”.

Imran notably led to victory at the 1992 Cricket World Cup which is Pakistan’s first and only victory in that competition.

The bowling attacked would be spearheaded by “great companion and fastest bowler” Sir  Richard Hadlee of Australia. Hadley is regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers and all-rounders in cricketing history.

It would be assisted by medium pace-bowler Glen McGrath, known throughout his career for maintaining an accurate line and length, enabling  him to be one of the most consisen bowlers of his time.

“The way he performed everywhere I have admired him,” said Younis.

Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan is the only spinner in the team. Muralitharan holds the world record for the most wickets in both test and one-day cricket.
