LAHORE: In a rather unfortunate incident here in the provincial capital, a corpse of a newborn baby was found to be stolen from a grave on Tuesday, ARY News reported.
According to details, Shuja ur Rehman had a son born to him after seven years, however, the infant died soon after the birth.
When the child was buried in Badami Bagh cemetery, his grave was dug and the corpse was stolen by a beggar who then used it to seek alms from the public.
The police arrested the beggar on a complaint of a suspecting citizen who had spotted him seeking charity from the public while showing them the dead body and claiming it as his deceased son.
The body was recovered from his possession and was handed over to parents for reburial whereas a case was lodged against the beggar, identified as Ilyas, on the complaint of the parents.
The police are investigating whether the suspect operates as a lone wolf or a gang is involved in the inhumane activity.
