Administrator of DHA Brigadier Zubair Ahmed stated that the decision of destroying the hookahs was taken following Supreme Court’s recent directive banning sheeshas and hookahs.
“Influential people were involved and there was resistance so we had to be careful,” he said.
“We want to clear DHA of sheesha and the operation will continue until it is cleared,” he added.

Security and Vigilance deputy director of DHA Major Nayiar Naqvi said that around a hundred Sheesha cafes had been operational in the Authority’s jurisdiction and that many of these were situated close to schools.
