ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Sunday started its flight operation to Barcelona after a gap of nearly two years.
A B-777 aircraft left for the Spanish city via Paris from Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad.
Due to the tragic incident on December 7 which killed 47 people, all festivities planned earlier for the launch of this flight had been cancelled.
In a somber mood CEO PIA Mr. Bernd Hildenbrand saw off the passengers. Expressing his views on the occasion he said that, with the resumption of flights to Barcelona, passengers will have a convenient link between Pakistan and Spain.
PIA will operate two weekly flights to Barcelona, one each from Islamabad and Lahore, operating on Sundays and Tuesdays.
