MQM workers on 22nd August had ransacked ARY News office in Karachi, after the party chief incited his workers to carry out violent acts. He also used derogatory language against Pakistan and its state institutions.

Mark Toner, spokesperson of the US State Department has said that the US administration is aware of the attack on ARY News office in Karachi. He urged the government of Pakistan to ensure freedom of expression in the country.
He went on to say that critical analysis and expressions should be encouraged in a democratic society.
“Democracy becomes strong due to the freedom of expression,” the state department spokesman added.
