TENNESSEE: A famed WWE wrestler Glenn Jacobs, known as Kane, has been elected mayor of the third-most populous county in Tennessee.

It was last when reports started pouring in that the popular wrestler is set to enter the politics. And in August 2017, the 49-year-old has announced his Republican candidacy for Knox County for next year, which is located east of the city of Nashville, and it will not be his first venture into business outside of the wrestling ring either.

Running as a Republican, Jacobs defeated Democratic candidate Linda Haney 31,739 votes to 16,611.

Jacobs was born in Spain and grew up near St. Louis, Missouri, though his character Kane is infamously billed as hailing from either “Hell” or “parts unknown”.

The 51-year-old unseated a Democrat to become Knox County’s 29th mayor, running as a libertarian and promising tax cuts along with improvements to education and infrastructure.

“Knox County is a great place and we’re so happy and feel so blessed to live here,” Jacobs had said.

The Former WWE Champion had filed paperwork with the Knox County Election Commission, a traditional move that predates a candidacy for mayor,” the WWE said.

Jacobs joined the WWE in 1995, before being repackaged in 1997 as Kane, the half-brother of the Undertaker. Branded “The Devil’s Favourite Demon”, Kane would both feud and team up with the Undertaker during the first 10 years of his time in the WWE before the Undertaker’s appearances became less regular.
