MUZAFFARABAD: At least five people including two women were injured on Saturday after Indian forces opened unprovoked firing and shelling along the line of control (LoC).
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Indian forces– without any provocation – fired across the LoC at civilian population in Karela, Kotkoterra, Khuiratta, Sabzkot, Baroh, Tandar, and Khanjar sectors along the LoC early on Saturday morning.
The statement further said that Pakistani troops befittingly responded to the Indian firing which began at 7am and was continued intermittently.
According to details, civilians injured were residents of Sohana village in Kotkoterra Sector. They were identified as Haji Muhammad Younis, son of Abdul Aziz, Rehana Bibi, wife of Muhammad Asif and Samina Begum, wife of Tufail Mughal. The other two injured were not identified.
Deputy Commissioner Hussain feared that the number of injured persons could surge. “Since the shelling continues, we are unable to ascertain exact and entire information on losses. We will be able to give exact figure only after the guns fall silent,” he said.
Earlier on Thursday, one person was killed and ten others wounded in Kotli and Bhimber districts in indiscriminate Indian shelling. One of the injured persons – an elderly woman – succumbed to her wounds on Friday.
