Malik Riaz gives compensation cheques to Karachi fire victims

He stated this while distributing compensation cheques, on behalf of Bahria Town, of Rs 1 million each to 42 affectees of Timber Market blaze. The ceremony took place at Governor House, Karachi.

Scores of residential flats, shops and stores were gutted in a fierce blaze that ravaged the city’s congested Timber Market on December 27, 2014.

He acknowledged that the compensation amount given by him would not cover the loss of traders. However, he added “ The government should now also fulfill its promise to compensate victims of Timber factory fire.”

 

He stated, “We will make Karachi like Hong Kong and Dubai.”

Riaz said government should help businessmen whenever they are in trouble. He said Bahria Town has also called its fire brigade vans in the city to cope with any emergency.

He remaining affectees could come to collect their cheques from Bahria Town.
