First plea filed in tribal court as judicial system becomes functional today

PESHAWAR: First plea has been filed in a tribal court on Monday after establishment of the judicial system in the tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa (KP), ARY News reported.

The newly established judicial system has started working in the tribal districts in which a student hailing from Khyber Agency has filed plea for not registering him in the college.

“College administration is denying my registration that might cause loss of an academic year”, the plea read.

Last week, Registrar Peshawar High Court (PHC) Khawaja Wajihud Din had said that the judges appointed in tribal district courts will start performing their duties from March 11 (today).

The PHC Registrar said the judicial officers were advised to write verdicts in the Urdu language.

A training session was organised for newly-appointed judicial officers prior to the functioning of district courts.

The officers were provided with information on tribal culture and traditions during the session.

Earlier, a constitutional amendment [The Constitution (Thirty-First Amendment) Bill 2018] for the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was passed in the National Assembly on May 24 – 2018.
