LAHORE: Punjab Assembly lawmaker Hina Pervez Butt has submitted a resolution in the legislature seeking blanket ban on Indian films across Pakistan.
The resolution filed by Ms Butt reads: “This House expresses concerns on Indian ‘cultural attacks’ on Pakistani nation and demands the government of Pakistan to immediately impose ban on Indian films, dramas across cinemas in the country.”
It also demanded strict action against cable TV operators showing Indian content in Pakistan.
In September 2016, cinema owners in the country had announced to take Indian films off their screens amid rising Pak-India tension over Kashmir.
However, they maintained that the ban was placed only until situation normalises between the neighbouring countries.
On December 18, the cinemas owners announced lifting ban on screening of Indian movies
