KARACHI: A large contingent of Rangers and police arrived at MQM stronghold Jinnah Ground, Azizabad, and barred people from entering the ground, for undisclosed reasons.
MQM-London coordination committee members were due to arrive at the ground to offer Fateha for deceased party workers, however a large number of law enforcement personnel rushed to the spot and stopped people from visiting the area.
MQM leader Sathi Ishaq met with Rangers personnel and told media that women have been allowed to go inside the ground, while men had not been permitted by the law enforcers.
He said law enforcement personnel asked MQM women activists to offer Fateha and disperse immediately.
Routes leading to the Jinnah Ground have been blocked by the Rangers. The law enforcers said the measured had been taken to prevent any untoward incident.
