Phantom, the upcoming Bollywood flick starring Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan, has earned the ire of Pakistanis due to the film’s content. The movie was banned by Lahore High Court two days ago, in response to a petition filed by India’s most wanted man Hafiz Saeed. Saeed, who is the chief of Jamaat-ud-Da’wah.

Saeed had earlier stated that Phantom was an anti-Pakistan film and such Bollywood movies were part of a propaganda by the Indians against Pakistan. In the movie, Saif Ali Khan plays an ex-army man, who is on a mission to take out terrorists in Pakistan. Katrina Kaif also stars in the movie, which is directed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan director Kabir Khan.

Reacting to the movie being banned in Pakistan, this is what Saif Ali Khan said:-

“Unfortunately, certain films that they (Pakistan) will make, we (India) will ban, and certain films that we make, they will ban. If you don’t want to get banned, you have to make other films like Race… which is fair enough because certain political issues are very sensitive between the two countries,” said Saif Ali Khan.

However, Saif did state again that the movie was not anti-Pakistan.

“The film is about terrorism and there might be people in Pakistan who are anti-India. It’s (the film) not anti-Pakistan, but that’s okay. Even Agent Vinod wasn’t anti-Pakistan… that got banned,” he said.

“You can make a fair amount of money from that market, so it’s bit of a shame. It’s not important in terms of… it doesn’t dictate what kind of movies we make.”
