Railways Minister Saad Rafique of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had defeated Hamid Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in general elections of 2013.
The verdict was announced by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali. It also asked the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to submit a report on vote verification in 90 days.
In its verdict, the apex court also directed PTI’s Hamid Khan to bear expenses of the vote verification process.
