RAWALPINDI: The Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) recovered huge stockpile of weapons and ammunition during separate Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) on Thursday in Khyber Agency and South and North Waziristan tribal regions, ARY News reported.
According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Frontier Corps (FC) Khyber Pakthunkhwa on late Thursday night recovered weapons which included Sub-Machine Guns, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and detonators besides explosive materials from Akka Khel, Guli Khel, and Ghaibi Nokya areas of Khyber Agency during the raids.
However, no more details pertaining to arrests were shared.
Meanwhile, the security forces on Thursday conducted several raids at different villages of South and North Waziristan tribal regions and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
The raids were carried out on intelligence tip-off in Maidankai village of South Wazirstan Agency and Zarkai village of North Wazirstan Agency, the Pakistan Army’s media wing said in a statement.
The recovered weapons included light machine guns, 12.7mm machine guns, RPG7 launchers, SMGs, grenades, rifles, pistols, explosive boxes, anti personal mines and daggers. While the recovered ammunition included RPG7 rockets, 14.5 mm rounds, ammunition boxes of 12.7mm guns, 12 bore rifle rounds as well as heavy and small machine gun rounds.
OPERATION RADD-UL-FASAAD
The Pakistan Army launched Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad earlier this year following a spate of terror attacks in the country, which claimed more than a hundred lives and left hundreds of others injured.
The operation seeks to eliminate the latent threat of terrorism, consolidating the gains made in other military operations, and further ensuring the security of Pakistan’s borders.
