Katherine Dey is a 30-year-old registered nurse from New York who started baking cakes a few years ago.
Dey has an amazing hobby. She also makes rather disturbing cakes that some people may find ugly to look at, but not necessarily with eating.
She has also made cakes that look like a brain, a severed head, and newborn baby. Aside from human anatomy, she has also made cakes of carnivorous plants and insects.
She told BuzzFeed: “I am inspired by a lot of things. I love that strange feeling I get when something looks real but it isn’t, or when a cake doesn’t look particularly appetising but it is a cake and it tastes delicious.”
Not all of Dey’s creations are quite so graphic. She’s made a Teenage Mutant Ninja turtle cake.
Dey says she put a lot of time and effort into the designs to make sure the cakes don’t fall apart.
