He scored his 11th ODI century as he remained unbeaten at 102 runs from 130 balls which included 10 boundaries and a six.
England won the toss and chose to bat first.
The English side could only manage 216 runs on the board as they were dismissed in 49.4 overs. Eoin Morgan and James Taylor were the only batsmen who could provide some resistance to the Pakistani bowlers as they scored 76 and 60 runs respectively.
Chris Woakes scored 33 runs for the team.
Mohammad Irfan took three wickets whereas Anwar Ali and Shoaib Malik grabbed two wickets. Yasir Shah also dismissed one batsman.
The Pakistan side, chasing 217 runs to win, reached the target in 43.4 overs.
Apart from Hafeez’s contribution for the side, Babar Azam also scored 62 not out whereas Shoaib Malik made 26 runs for the side.
Reece Topley took three wickets for England whereas Moeen Ali also dismissed one batsman.
The second ODI will be played at Abu Dhabi on 13th November.
