Most recently, Pakistani actors and actresses such as Fawad Afzal Khan, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar and others have ventured into the Indian film industry to make a name for themselves. Also, over the past few years Indian actors have also started giving their nod to Pakistani films, actor Naseeruddin Shah being the most prominent among them.
And now, Bollywood’s legendary actor Om Puri has agreed to star in a Pakistani flick titled Actor-In-Law. The movie will be directed by Nabeel Qureshi and produced by Fizza Ali Meerza. Fizza and Nabeel had also paired up to delight audiences with the hit Na Maloom Afraad a couple of years ago.
Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat will also be a part of the flick. While Fahad had the lead role in Na Maloom Afraad, Mehwish Hayat made a cameo when she performed in an item song titled ‘Billi’. Om Puri also spoke at a media event in Karachi and said that he was impressed by Pakistani films.
“I didn’t know this team personally when I was approached for the film. But I was aware of the fact that Pakistani films have improved a lot,” he said. “Fizza and Nabeel came up with a very unusual script. The whole team is very talented,” finished Puri.
According to producer Fizza Ali Meerza, the cameras have already started rolling. “Yes, Om Puri is part of the cast and we have already started filming,” she said.
Na Maloom Afraad was a huge hit with fans and its clever comedy and stellar plot helped the movie to earn rave reviews. Let’s hope Actor-In-Law also becomes successful in garnering the same level of appreciation.
