Duminy along with Asif Ali added 71 runs on the scoreboard. Asif also played crucial part to support his partner scoring 45 off 24 balls clubbed with two boundaries and four sixes.
Shadab unluckily got run out without opening his account. While, Hussain Talat added 27 runs.
Wahab was the only bowler who struck the Islamabad’s batsmen thrice conceding 30 runs in four overs.
On the other hand, Samit Patel struck Zalmi hard with bagging four for 34, including top three wickets.
Surprisingly, the best contributions with the blade for the defeated team was made by two fast bowlers.
Wahab Riaz (33 from 25) and Umaid Asif (25 from 17) unleashed their batting potential in the last overs but to no avail. The unexpected hard-hitting from the tail-enders could not save Zalmi’s sinking ship.
Another fast bowler, Hasan Ali played his part with 15 from 7. While, Kamran Akmal and Andre Fletcher made 22 and 19 respectively.
Earlier, skipper Peshawar Zalmi Darren Sammy won the toss and sent Islamabad United into bat first.
