As the authorities became aware of the announcement of a rally, a heavy contingent of police was ordered to surround Laal Masjid.
Later, talks between the two sides led to Maulana Aziz’s return to Jamia Hafsa without taking out the rally and subsequent end of siege by police.
However, the district administration served a letter to Maulana Abdul Aziz warning him of arrest if found taking up such activities in future.
The administration also informed the cleric that his name is there on the Fourth Schedule of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
The Fourth Schedule restricts movement of a person from his permanent residence without prior permission of police.
