Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated in Pakistan while the rest of the world including Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states, enjoyed the holy festival a day earlier.

This festival is all about making a sacrifice in the name of Allah but for many of us, it is only about eating meat, in fact, a lot of meat.

This year, please be patient and good to your health because, trust us, the meat will not evaporate away.

Read the tips below, they will keep you sane and healthy while you eat meat.

1- Not too much of meat, please

Red meat, anyway, is not good for health reasons. Therefore, during Eid-ul-Azha and beyond, avoid eating too much red meat because it can be the reason to cause food poisoning, coronary heart diseases and strokes. Red meat (beef, lamb and mutton) is also high in cholesterol; therefore, you must avoid the fatty part.

2- Meat with fizzy drinks, a bad combo

We all know the bad and long-term consequences fizzy drinks can have on our health and even then, we are so much habitual of taking them with almost every meal, whether Eid or no Eid. Remember, the ill effects of fizzy drinks double when you have it with a lot of red meat. Try to skip this habit.

3- Don’t forget to exercise on Eid

Eid holidays are no reason to put your exercise rituals (if you have any) on hold. Light to moderate exercise and walk with at least 12-15 glasses of clear water will enable your stomach to work properly on Eid-ul-Azha and at the same time, will make it function to digest the food fast.

4- Too many barbecues! Fix your meal time

Keep your routine intact even during Eid-ul-Azha holidays to be healthy. You must be having too many barbecue invites and that too at odd hours. You should design your schedule properly with your heads and eyes open since with overeating of meat on Eid, you cannot afford to go to barbecues on the three consecutive days . Bad idea.

5- It’s a trap. Take breaks between meals

You will definitely be tempted by the smell of biryani, steaks and stir-fries, but remember it is just a trap and you will upset your stomach if you tried to eat that all. Keep those – ideally at least 5 hours – breaks between your meals coming in. They will help food to get digested properly.

6- Vegetables aren’t that bad too

Of course, please do not think eating vegetables on Eid-ul-Azha is barred or that you will be fined if you have them. To avoid constipation and stomach cramps sufficient consumption of fruits and vegetables alongside meat is necessary. Add salads when having large and extra meals of meat.
