The workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Gulbahar sector were arrested by Rangers for allegedly receiving Fitra and Zakat by force and intimidation.
Rangers personnel arrested sixteen MQM workers within the precincts of Rizvia Police Station claiming that they were extorting money from people by force in the name of Zakat and Fitra.
A spokesman of Pakistan Rangers Sindh in a statement said that the MQM workers arrested on the suspicion of extorting money from people in the name of Zakat and Fitra collection.
Rangers spokesman in a statement maintained that none would be allowed to extort money from the people of Karachi in the name of Zakat, Fitra collection.
Waqas Shah murder case
An anti-terrorism court on Friday granted physical remand of alleged murderer of MQM worker Waqas Shah.
Waqas Shah, 25, a worker of MQM was mysteriously shot dead during the protest against the raid of paramilitary Rangers at Nine Zero on March 11.
Police while producing accused Asif before the court today requested further remand for investigation. The judge granted the physical remand of the accused till July 11.
The Rangers had arrested the accused from Shahdadpur in interior Sindh.
