KARACHI: Former member national assembly Ali Raza Abidi has tendered his resignation from the basic membership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan.
In a surprising move, Ali Raza has quit his party before the conduct of by-polls on NA-243 seat.
A day earlier, the erstwhile MQM-P leader took to Twitter to share the news of his resignation and wrote “My resignation from basic membership of MQM-P due to personal reasons.”
Abidi also shared the picture of his hand-written resignation letter addressed to MQM-P convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

According to sources privy to the matter, Abidi took the decision of resigning from party after being sidelined as a candidate for NA-243 by-elections.
In his place, the nomination papers of Faisal Sabzwari has been submitted for NA-243 seat from the party’s leadership, as per the sources.
It is pertinent to mention that in General Elections of July 25, Ali Raza Abidi lost against Prime Minister Imran Khan on NA-243 seat. PM Khan later left NA-243 seat in order to retain his hometown seat of Mianwali.
By-polls are scheduled on October 14.
