Case registered against ex-chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari for thrashing cop

The case was registered at Margala Police Station.

Bukhari, who is affiliated with the Pakistan People’s Party, arrived at the entrance gate of Islamabad’s district court, when the cop stationed at the gate asked for body search. The ex-chairman slapped the cop straightaway and also threatened him with dire consequences if he “treated him that way”.

His warning followed by his car driver’s assault on the cop. While Bukhari was also heard saying “Don’t you know who I am?”.

IG Islamabad has also ordered immediate arrest of Bukhari and said such incidents were intolerable, source said. He said the ex-chairman should have treated the cop with dignity.

The security has been beefed up at all government installations to prevent any untoward incident, while the cop was on routine duty to check all visitors at the Upper House when he got slapped by Bukhari.

Police constable after the incident had filed an application at Margala Police station to register case against the PPP leader.
