KARACHI: A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage has surfaced in Intizar Ahmed murder case showing plain-clothed officials chasing him on the streets of Karachi’s posh locality, ARY News reported.
The 19-year-old boy, who recently returned from Malaysia, was shot dead by Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) personnel in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on January 13.
The video shows two motorcycles and as many cars intercepting Intizar’s white Corolla and checking inside to confirm his presence. In the meanwhile, sensing hostility from them Intizar reverses his car and speeds away. But after a brief chase, the ACLC officials make him pull over and open fire killing the victim on the spot.
The CCTV video that has surfaced two weeks after the incident has raised several questions on the way of police action. How can one differentiate police personnel from robbers if they operate in plain clothes.

Following the incident, two contradictory accounts of the incident emerged as police claimed that the youth was killed by unidentified armed assailants riding motorcycle.
While, later it emerged that it was not the case. Parents of the slain student alleged that the ACLC personnel did not open fire at his son with an intent to stop him, but to kill him.
His father, Ishtiaq Ahmed, said the police were attempting to present the murder of their only son as an accidental death.
