The audit report said it was due to the negligence of the PIA’s management that the luggage belonging to passengers kept going missing.”The management was apprised of the situation in 2017 but no response was received,” it added.
According to the rules and regulations, the duty officer is responsible if luggage goes missing, the report noted.
Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed officials to devise a business plan to transform the Pakistan International Airline into a profit-making body and furnish the plan in this regard by March end.
Minister for Aviation, Mohammad Mian Soomro had said that a corruption mafia was active in the PIA and the airline was bearing huge losses in its operations.
