ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Friday said that his party has resolved to file a review petition against Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification in the Panama Papers case.
He was talking to media persons after taking oath as Minister for Railways on Friday when he asserted that the ruling party should be provided with a fair chance to appeal against the disqualification.
Making an appeal for level-playing field, he said that the court must not deprive them of the basic rights. “Right to appeal the court’s decision is to be utilised in the case,” Rafique added.
He said the party members including the supremo have been expressing their reservations on the judgment and the party has resolved to review the petition against Sharif.
Rafique asserted that Nawaz Sharif would return stronger in the upcoming General Elections 2018.
Coming down hard on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, he said the PTI chief should resign for being accused of sending lewd text messages to former party member Ayesha Gulalai.
“Imran Khan should voluntarily present himself before an independent committee to probe Gulalai’s allegations,” Rafique added.
In response to a question, he said his party has made no offers to Gulalai for joining PML-N.
