ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the investigation committee constituted to probe the leak of a news on national security, ARY News reported on Friday.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan chaired a meeting of the party’s media strategic committee. All members of the committee declared the investigation committee as ‘controversial’.

The chairman said that that committee’s head justice (retd.) Amir Raza has close ties with the Sharif family due to which transparent investigation is not possible.

It was urged in the meeting that the Supreme Court should settle the Panama Leaks case, while the matter of the probe about security news leak should be entrusted to the Parliament.

Khan instructed his party leaders to work for bringing a resolution against the committee in the Senate. He asked PTI’s Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi to start contacts with opposition parties in this regard.

Meanwhile, Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has written a letter to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in which he stated that the head of the probe committee on news leak is a controversial figure.

He mentioned that the former judge has close relations with the federal government.

“Raza’s name was included in a list of proposed acting chief ministers whereas her daughter is enjoying benefits from the federal government,” Rasheed stated.
