RAWALPINDI: The secretary of assassinated Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief, Maulana Samiul Haq, has been missing from his residence in Akora Khattak over the last three or four days.
Syed Ahmed Shah, late Haq’s secretary, was picked up by the law enforcement agencies, as per the claims of his family, however, the police has denied to have taken him in their custody.
According to reports, Mr Shah is said to have discovered the body of Samiul Haq after his murder. Also, Syed Ahmed Shah was the first to inform Maulana Hamidul Haq, the son of Maulana Samiul Haq, of his father’s demise.
On the other hand, as the police investigation goes underway, more evidences have been collected including the fingerprints of three separate individuals and a bloodstained kurta from the murder scene of Maulana Samiul Haq.
Moreover, hair of three lengths, the bed sheet with blood on it and three glasses were also collected from the spot.
Nearly, 25 different samples collected from the scene of the murder so far, have been sent to the laboratory for a forensic test.
Four individuals, who had been recently in contact with Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam-Sami slain chief, had also been questioned as a part of the probe into the assassination of the religious leader.
Assassination of Maulana Samiul Haq
Hamid ul Haq, son of Maulana Samiul Haq, said his father was unwell and taking rest at home when he came under the attack.
He said Maulana Sami ul Haq’s driver and gunman were away when he was stabbed and added that when one of his servants returned he saw his father lying in a pool of blood.
