What better news than to know that Furious 8 will indeed hit the screens and that it would be available for the world to see in April of next year?
Diesel was speaking to theater owners at Universal Pictures’ panel at CinemaCon in Las Vegas when he confirmed the date. Diesel went on to thank those in attendance for their loyalty. “You helped us create history here.”
Furious 7 became the most successful movie this year when it crossed the $1billion mark at the box office. Furious 7 starred Kurt Russel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris in the lead roles along with Paul Walker. Walker had filmed a couple of scenes prior to his death and for the remaining part of the movie, his face was digitally created to complete the film. A Wiz Khalifa tribute song for Paul Walker titled ‘See You Again’ became an instant hit when it was released.
Paul Walker, who played the character of Brian O’ Conner, an ex-cop who joined Dom Toretto’s gang of outlaws, died on 30th November 2012. His death occurred as a result of an accident, when his car collided with a tree. In the movie as well, Paul Walker was paid an emotional tribute when in the end, he and Vin Diesel go their separate ways driving their own cars.
Furious 7 went on to become a monster hit at the box office so the news that another installment has been decided for the franchise, isn’t all that surprising. The next film has already generated much hype and intrigue worldwide. Adrenaline-pumping action sequences, high flying cars and bolting fast sports cars have propelled the franchise into the international sensation it is today.
