LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday approved four separate references in graft and corruption cases and further investigations against several prominent personalities.
The decision was made after a meeting of the executive board meeting of the anti-graft watchdog chaired by NAB chairman Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal.
A reference will be filed against against CEO Quaid-e-Azam Hospital in Rawalpindi Shaukat Bangash who is accused of embezzlement worth Rs612 million.
Another reference will be filled against former secretary lands Karachi Ghulam Mustafa, former deputy commissioner Fazlur Rehman, and former commissioner Roshan Ali.
A separate reference will be filed against ex-DDO Revenue Shaukat Hussain Jokhio who is accused in land scam and illegally leasing 265 acres government lands on fabricated documents in Bin Qasim Town of district Malir Karachi.
A reference will also be filed against former secretary water and power Shahid Rafi, and former chairman Board of Governors Pepco Muhammad Saleem Arif.
The anti-graft watchdog also approved investigations against several prominent personalities including former Speaker Balochistan Assembly Jan Muhammad Jamali, former commissioner Sukkur Jam Ghulam Qadir, and former Sindh minister Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani.
Investigations will also be held against former vice-chairman Punjab Sports Board Hanif Abbasi and former federal minister Tanvir Hussain.
NAB also approved to conduct investigation against former commissioner for Afghan refugees Zia-ur-Rehman, who is also the brother of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Zia was recently removed by the federal cabinet and an inquiry was ordered to ascertain how he received the post without being a member of the civil service.
