ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday served notices to Interior Ministry and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) while hearing a petition filed by Dr. Asim, seeking exclusion of his name from Exit Control List (ECL), ARY News reported.
Dr. Asim has adopted a stance in his plea that he is suffering from back ailment and intends to go abroad for treatment on the recommendations of medical board, hence his name should be omitted from ECL.
The plea was heard by a three-member bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal, of the apex court.
During the court proceeding today, Justice Ejaz Afzal remarked that he could not understand the mystery behind getting medical certificates recommending treatment abroad issued to influential people as what certificates imply the cure of their ailment not available in the country.
On which, the counsel of Dr. Asim apprised the bench that his client has been bailed on medical grounds.
Justice Dost Muhammad said that the court approved the bail plea of an epilepsy patient in 1980, since then every person comes forward with the certificate of the same disease.
Responding to the judges, Khosa replied that epilepsy patient wakes up even after sniffing a shoe.
Issuing a notice to Dr. Asim over NAB’s petition seeking suspension of his bail, the top court then adjourned hearing of the plea till the next week.
