Gen Sharif visited Kamal Ata Turk Mausoleum in Ankara, which was followed by his visit to Headquarters of Turkish Land Forces, said ISPR spokesman Lt Gen Asim Salim Bajwa in his tweets.
He was presented Guard of Honor by a smartly turned out contingent of Turkish Land Forces.
Later in his meeting with the Turkish counterpart, the COAS expressed heartfelt condolences on Ankara blasts and said, “We understand enormity of your challenges and stand by you”.
“Pakistan and Turkey are facing daunting challenges. I am sure we will surmount them with a common and coherent approach,” said Sharif. “We assure you our unflinching support.”
The two military commanders also discussed enhanced cooperation in fields of counter-terrorism training, removal of IEDs, as well as in international domain.
General Raheel Sharif was awarded Turkish Legend of Merit in recognition of his services for regional peace and courageously handling terrorism menace.
The Turkish army chief hailed the COAS in for clarity in direction and sense of purpose in leading the Pakistan Army, and fighting barbaric terrorists successfully in an exemplary way.
