According to details, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting, which decided to extend the timeframe for biometric verification of SIM cards till May 15.
The interior minister clearly stated that after May 15 no SIM could be verified.
Briefing the meeting, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman told that more than 70 million mobile sims have been verified so far, while nearly 20 million unregistered sims were blocked.

On the occasion, Nisar asked the authorities to register the FIR against relative mobile service provider in case a SIM is used in a terrorism-related activity.
“No compromise will be made on national security and the safety of citizens is top priority of the government,” he added.
