According to an Indian news website, CM Himachal Pradesh Virbadra Singh said that Pak-India match should not be contested in Dharamshala at this point of time and asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to cancel the match or shift the game to a different venue
Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) has also criticized BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur’s idea of staging the match at the venue.
HPCC President Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the match should be cancelled or shifted to honour the sentiments of the martyrs’ families. He also demanded that the 50% of the income earned from the matches contested in the city to be donated to the families of the martyrs.
“Our party is not against holding other World Cup matches but only opposing the one against Pakistan as it would hurt the sentiments of the people, especially the families of martyrs”, Sukkhu said.
Himachal Pradesh Ex-servicemen League, in a letter to Indian Premier Narendra Modi, asked him to call off the match due to the Pathankot air base attack.
President of Himachal Pradesh Ex-servicemen League Vijay Singh Mantokia, in his letter to Modi, stated that “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans will not be relished as the death of their soldiers are still being mourned. He added that an agitation movement will be launched against the Pakistan team.
