LONDON: Begum Kulsoom Nawaz – wife of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif – underwent a successful throat cancer surgery on Thursday spanning few hours.
Begum Kulsoom, who is also the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for upcoming by-election in NA-120, has been shifted to intensive care unit (ICU) from operation theatre.
The deposed PM reached London on Thursday morning and saw Begum Kulsoom off before she was taken to operation theatre.
On the other side, Maryam Nawaz – who is supervising the by-election campaign for her mother in Lahore – took to twitter and appealed the masses to pray for early recovery of Begum Kulsoom.
Ami in surgery at the moment. Request you all to pray for her. Thank you. pic.twitter.com/i9Y3h5Eno3

Earlier, ex-PM Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday morning left for London from Lahore airport.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N leader Asif Karmani and others saw the former prime minister off at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport via a private airline.
Maryam Nawaz, who is running the election campaign of her mother, addressed a crowd of PML-N supporters in Mazang earlier this week in Lahore.
She said the sit-ins, Panama and Iqama issues were only excuses to solely target Nawaz as she claimed her father was the sole target of this entire saga.
The former PM’s daughter also came down hard on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and said in what capacity were they asking for votes in the constituency while they have been criticised the development in Punjab.
