MOHMAND AGENCY: At least three people died and two others sustained critical injuries when a landmine exploded in the Shati Maina area of Tehsil Ambar in Mohmand tribal region.
According to political administration, a man and his son were among the dead while the injured were taken to Bajaur hospital for medical treatment.
One of the injured has been identified as a tribal leader, Malik Ali Rehman.
Police along with other security agencies have cordoned off the area soon after the explosion.
Earlier this year, three security forces personnel among five were martyred while many others were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself at the main gate of Mohmand Agency headquarters, Ghallanai.
The suicide blast claimed lives of two civilians including a school teacher and a passerby.
Mohmand Agency is one of seven tribal agencies in Federal Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) sharing borders with Afghanistan.
Announcing successful completion of Khyber-4 operation in Rajgal Valley on August 21 (earlier this month), Director General Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major Gen Asif Ghafoor said that 52 terrorists were killed and five arrested by the armed forces during the operation.
The operation was launched under Radd-ul-Fasaad, a countrywide anti-terror initiative launched by the military to wipe out terrorists. Operation Khyber-4 was aimed at securing the international border with Afghanistan by preventing Daesh and other local militants on Afghan side of the border from infiltration.
