LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that people will reject those elements impeding the country’s development by indulging in negative politics, ARY News reported.
“Opponents have resorted to negative politics sensing their defeat in the upcoming 2018 general elections,” Shahbaz said in a statement issued on Sunday.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lives in the hearts of 200 million people. “Those who level baseless allegations against the truthful leader of the nation will find nothing, but disappointment.”
The chief minister said that those opposed to the country’s development are trying to enter power corridors through backdoor but they will not succeed in their designs. “Honesty, decency and service of people will be rewarded in election and the nation will not forgive those elements,” he added.
In a previous statement, the CM said that the nation cannot be left at mercy of anti-development elements as Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) has mandate to serve people as per their wishes.
“People could not be coerced into acceding to the unwarranted calls of sit-ins and protests and the masses want to see a developed Pakistan,” he added.
In veiled reference to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan, he said a politician, expert in leveling baseless allegations, has broken all records of lying.
